Sneak Peek: LSU-Built, Alumni Bring the Super Bowl to the Big Easy
February 07, 2025
It takes years to plan and host a Super Bowl. On Feb. 9th, New Orleans will host the Super Bowl for the 11th time. Behind the scenes, a team of LSU alumni is making it happen.
“We want to make sure that people know that it's about leaving a lasting impact after the final whistle of the game,” said Donald Dunbar, Assistant Director of Community Engagement of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and 2023 LSU graduate.
Dunbar and fellow Tigers are leading the charge: from securing major sponsorships and coordinating operations to driving community programs that will leave a lasting impact.
“Whether it be serving on one of our committees, our PR committee, marketing committee, security committee, city employees, or elected officials. The purple and gold runs pretty deep with this host committee,” said Billy Ferrante, Senior Vice President of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and a 1985 LSU graduate.
“Whenever hosting a Super Bowl, it's important the community is involved and engaged. This has such an economic impact, but also a social and cultural responsibility. It's a phenomenal experience to represent your city and your state in this manner,” said Chincie Mouton, Director of Community Engagement of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and a 2011 LSU graduate.
