Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the study of human movement and the practice of helping people understand how their body performs, how to maintain proper physical health, and how to maximize their body's potential. 

Concentrations are available in the following areas:

The Exercise Science and Human Performance concentration is designed to prepare students for careers related to health, fitness, and sports performance across multiple populations and settings.

Career opportunities: Personal Training, Strength and Conditioning, Workplace Wellness as well as Hospital, Government and Community-based Fitness Settings

The Human Movement Science program is designed for students pursuing entrance into various medically related fields.

Career paths: Dental School, Medical School, Occupational Therapy School, Physical Therapy School, Physician’s Assistant Programs.

This concentration leads to certification for teaching in Louisiana and most other states, preparing a student to teach grades K-12 in physical education and health as well as coach in a variety of settings.

Career opportunities: K-12 Physical Education and/or Health Teacher, Sports Coach

The Physical Activity and Health concentration is designed for students interested in areas of study such as physical activity behaviors, community health and wellness, mental health, drug and alcohol education, global health, healthy lifestyles, health advocacy, social determinants of health, and special populations.

Career opportunities: Government Agencies (local, state, regional, or federal), Health Communications, Hospitals and Clinics, Non-Profit Health Organizations (e.g., American Heart Association), Medical Sales, Universities, and Volunteer Agencies

The Pre-Athletic Training Concentration at LSU is designed for students pursuing entrance into athletic training programs.
