Hands-on Learning
Participants learn about real geology research being done from LSU geologists and geology students.
Students in grades 7 and 8 are invited to apply for Geaux Science Explorations: Our Earth, Our Laboratory — a day of hands-on earth science fun led by some of LSU's geologists!
Discover how scientists study our planet through interactive geology activities, learn to identify rock and mineral samples, and enjoy lunch while chatting with LSU scientists and students about careers in science.
Who's eligible to participate? Students in 7th and 8th grade with an interest in science.
Date: April 25, 2026
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Location: LSU Howe-Russell Geoscience Complex (corner of Tower Dr. and South Campus Dr.)
How do you apply? Complete the 2026 Our Earth, Our Laboratory online application form linked below. The application requires an essay written by the student, a parent authorization form, and a photography and social media release form that must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
