December 2025 Update

The final blog post for the Workday Student implementation project.

Continued Progress with Workday Student

As we close out the year, we are excited to share the latest milestones in our Workday Student implementation. The system continues to deliver on its promise of modernizing student services and administrative processes across LSU.

To date, nearly 50,000 students have registered courses in Workday. These students have amassed over 600,000 unique course registrations. We want to thank our students, faculty and staff for their adaptability in utilizing this new system and would be remiss to not point out these key “Workday Wins”:

  • In Workday, an average of 500 students complete a schedule within the first 5 minutes of a registration window opening with thousands of students having the ability to register each day.
  • We have experienced no system failures or downtime in Workday during registration windows.
  • Our legacy system could only handle about 1,000 registrants per day and often suffered from lag and refresh issues.

The streamlined interface and enhanced functionality help students complete registration processes with greater ease and confidence. We have seen strong uptake of the saved schedule functionality, which will better inform seat planning and predictive modeling in future cycles.

Payments for summer and fall terms were processed through Workday using a new third-party payment processor. Over 40,000 students have accepted financial responsibility and completed payment.

It is important to note that there are companion projects being executed in parallel with the Workday Student project. Of the fifteen companion projects impacted by the Workday Student transition, only five remain in progress, with all expected to be completed in Spring 2026.

As reporting teams continue to optimize the tenant, administrative teams gain access to real-time data, enabling faster decision-making and better support for students. With enhanced reporting capabilities, advisors and staff can access a host of reports to better inform their decision making, assist students, and conduct meaningful outreach.

As we prepare for the future, our focus remains on continuous improvement and user support. Training resources and help guides will be updated to reflect new features and best practices, ensuring all users have the tools they need for success. Bi-annual Workday software releases will continue to evolve the product to better meet the needs of higher education customers. LSU is excited to be part of early adopter groups that cover functional areas from transfer admissions to financial aid, including participating in a high-profile design group focused on incorporating AI into the Workday Student platform.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support as we work together to make Workday Student a cornerstone of LSU’s student experience.
